Eric Heikkila

Senior Consultant

Ypsilanti, MI - USA

With a passion for problem solving, an inquisitive mind, and a hunger for learning, Eric is at home turning ideas into software and mentoring others in Agile techniques to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

Eric began teaching himself how to program at a young age, initially hoping to reduce the tedium of creating characters for various role playing games, and later to create games of his own. Eventually he was given an opportunity to learn while doing, helping maintain an accounting system and developing an online used car auctioning system for Ford dealerships.

His next job introduced him to eXtreme Programming - pair programming, unit testing, test driven design. His passion for helping people combined with his intuitive programming skills drove him to learn other programming languages, experiment with new testing tools and techniques, and work with others to improve their testing and pairing skills.

He then had the opportunity to help the families of the victims of 9-11 by helping to develop the Mass Fatality Identification System (M-FISys). This system was initially used to help identify the remains from the 9-11 attacks, and later further developed for forensic casework, helping fight child trafficking with DNA ProKids, and processing remains from sites in Guatemala.
