Purpose

The purpose of the NYC Design Patterns Study Group (DPSG) is to learn and come to master design patterns and pattern languages. Members of the DPSG meet once a week, in small groups to question, clarify, compare and ultimately understand patterns that are object-oriented, architectual, analytical and organizational.

At the conclusion of each meeting, our purpose shifts to eating food and/or drinking beer.

The DPSG consists of the GoF (Gang-of-Four), 4G, (4 Gangsters) and PL (Pattern Languages) groups.

If You're Thinking of Joining...

If you are fluent in at least one object-oriented language but have never studied Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software, consider joining the 4G group. If you have finished studying the Design Patterns book, consider joining the GoF group. And if you are more interested in pattern languages, technical and analysis patterns, communications and organizational patterns, consider joining the PL group.
