The 4 Who?

At a PLoP conference in 1996, a gentleman with a slightly limited grasp of the English language accidentally referred to the Gang-of-Four as the "Four Gangsters." We got such a kick out of this that we decided to immortalize the name by calling this DPSG subgroup the "Four Gangsters Group" or 4G Group.

Purpose

The 4G group meets weekly for the purpose of studying and mastering all 23 patterns from the book Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software.

Once all 23 patterns have been studied, the group goes on to study a few more design patterns, before joining one of the other DPSG groups. At the end of this cycle of study, which usually lasts 25-30 weeks, the 4G group begins the cycle again.

New members are always welcome. If you're thinking of joining this group, we suggest you read the Learning Guide To Design Patterns.
